I told you in my introductory post that I wouldn't mention my former employer by name. I am providing some hints in this post.
I understand that by not telling you the name flat out makes it more difficult, but I am still reeling over the fact that they did what they did to me.
I need to mention that I was raised by a physician. It's very difficult for me to disparage any kind of company where other physicians or advanced care providers are the ones who do the work for which the rest of the employees are getting paid. However, I've learned that in order for a company like this to run smoothly, administrative staff needs to be well-trained and valued. Also, the physicians and advanced care providers should be just as valuable.
There was a time when everyone was valuable. That's changed. Only the executive staff and management seem to be the ones who benefit. I think this is why there's such a problem with the American healthcare for-profit model.
With this particular company, healthcare providers aren't getting paid what they deserve anymore. Additionally, like many other corporations (let's be honest, it's a corporation not a company), they took money from the federal government (a.k.a. taxpayer money) thanks to the CARES Act, but used it for political ads while still cutting doctor pay.
I initially defended the cutting of hours, because I knew said corporation was dealing with a reduction of ER visits across the board nationally, which meant less patients for providers to see. The entire company was seeing furloughs at the end of April. In the summer, there were mixed messages provided to the media. Although I was still technically employed, I was on FMLA and no longer had access to any of my employee information like inner company communication.
Before Covid-19 and before the tax law changes, one thing happened that really sent this company down what I think was the path to ruin. It was acquired by a private hedge fund. Again, I'm not mentioning the name, but this hedge fund has deep ties to the Trump administration and campaign both his 2016 and 2020 campaigns. This probably is the thing that disturbs me the most.
